Ukraine's Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine has reviewed upwards the grain harvest forecast for 2017 by 300,000 tonnes, to 62.3 million tonnes.

"According to the preliminary estimates, in 2017, the production of grain and leguminous crops in the standard weight is expected to be within 62.3 million tonnes with a yield of 42.8 centners per ha," the ministry said.

A survey of winter cereal crops for 2018 shows that seedlings are seen on 6.8 million hectares out of 6.9 million hectares (98%), of which 5.6 million hectares (83%) are in good and satisfactory condition.

"The further condition of crops will depend on the favorable weather conditions for wintering," the ministry said.

As reported, grain harvest in Ukraine, according to the State Statistics Service, in 2016 amounted to about 66 million tonnes.

The USDA forecasts grain harvest in Ukraine in 2017 at the level of 61.49 million tonnes, including 26.5 million tonnes for wheat.
