Russia: as of November 1, grain stocks totaled over 56 mln tonnes – Rosstat

As of November 1, 2017, the carry-over stocks of grains in agricultural, harvesting and processing organizations of the Russian Federation totaled 56.355 mln tonnes, an increase of 7.757 mln tonnes (or up 16%) compared with the figures on the same date in 2016, reported the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat).

At the same time, the carry-over stocks of grains in agricultural organizations increased by 5.005 mln tonnes (up 16.9%), compared with November 1, 2016 – to 36.356 mln tonnes. Harvesting and processing organizations increased the rate by 2.752 mln tonnes (up 16%) - to 19.999 mln tonnes.

In particular, wheat formed the major share of the carry-over stocks in the harvesting and processing organizations — 15.653 mln tonnes, up 20.9% compared with the same period last year, including 11.038 mln tonnes of milling wheat (up 27.9%).

Also, barley stocks increased to 2.225 mln tonnes (up 15.6%), and buckwheat - 94 thsd tonnes (up 1.2%). At the same time, rye stocks totaled 632 thsd tonnes, up 6.3% compared with the indicator as of November 1, 2016, including 572 thsd tonnes of milling rye (up 6.7%).

At the same time, rice stocks reduced to the level of 32 thsd tonnes (down 45.8%), millet - 27 thsd tonnes (down 19.1%), and corn - 1.011 mln tonnes (down 23.6%).
