Dorchester man identified as third homicide victim in Boston this year

Authorities have identified a man who was fatally shot in Mattapan on Saturday.

Around 4:45 a.m., George Deeble, 42, of Dorchester, was found shot in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Fremont Street, police said in a statement. He was taken by Boston EMS to a local hospital, where he died.

The shooting remains under investigation. Deeble’s death was the third homicide in Boston this year. At this time last year, there were 15 homicides reported in the city, police said.
