In 2018/19 MY, Russia started exporting wheat to Morocco, and already supplied 377 thsd tonnes of the grain to the country, reported the Director of the Federal State-Funded Institution "Federal Centre of Quality and Safety Assurance for Grain and Grain products", Yulia Koroleva on February 26.

To date, Russia supplies wheat to almost all African countries. Except for the North African countries (Egypt), the list includes Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Mozambique, Ghana, Senegal, Congo, Uganda, Yemen, Sudan, etc. And in the current season, Morocco and Algeria started purchasing the grain, Y.Koroleva said.

Previously, Russia failed to export wheat to Morocco, due to the high protective duties for any wheat but not including French origin. But in December 2018, the country zeroed the duties.

In several recent days, two Panamax vessels shipped 60 thsd tonnes of wheat each to Morocco. For 7 months of the current season, the general shipments reached 377 thsd tonnes, said Y.Koroleva.

Also, Russia plans to supply the pilot batch of wheat to Algeria in the nearest future. After the Algerian researches and confirmation on the absence of complaints about possible damages by corn-bug, "Federal Centre of Quality and Safety Assurance for Grain and Grain products" expects for starting of the supplies to the country.
