North Wellington Co-op officially opens its new state-of-the-art fertilizer facility

HARRISTON, Ontario, Nov. 01, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- North Wellington Co-operative Services is holding an open house event today to celebrate the grand opening of its new fertilizer facility and propane service shop in Harriston. Open house begins at 11:00 a.m. with the official ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:30 followed by tours of the new facilities and a beef-on-a-bun lunch served to all who attend.

The co-operative’s new facility features the high-tech Layco declining-weight blend system that provides great efficiencies in everything from storage capacity, loading speed and  receiving times along with superior customized blending abilities.

“With this upgrade to a declining balance system, we know that our co-op will be able to address the needs of area producers during high volume requirements,” says North Wellington Co-operative Services president Jon Eckhardt.

The facility can handle 12 products into one blend. “Speed is a huge requirement for our members,” says Kelly Boyle, North Wellington Co-operative general manager. “But also the ability to satisfy the demand for intricate and a variety of bulk blends is a win-win for our members.”

Alongside the plant is a new 3,200 sq. ft. chemical warehouse which includes dyked storage for three 10,000-gallon tanks of liquid fertilizer.

Special guests invited to speak at today’s ribbon-cutting ceremony are: John Nater, MP for Perth-Wellington, Randy Pettapiece, MPP for Perth-Wellington and George Bridge, mayor - Town of Minto.

At this compact but efficient FS site, customers can also purchase all their energy needs with FS products such as Dieselex® Gold, DEF, ethanol gas and propane. North Wellington Co-op customers have also come to depend on the availability of feed products and services as well as the many products offered at its ACE County and Garden Store.
