ARANZAZU, CALDAS, COLOMBIA, March 27, 2024 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Wakate stands out in the Colombian agricultural sector for its focus on sustainable Hass avocado production.

From the beginning, Wakate's commitment to preserving natural resources and protecting biodiversity has been steadfast and deeply rooted in its core values.

By adopting good agricultural practices, investing in the well-being of local communities, and promoting a balance between economic activity and environmental protection, Wakate has become a benchmark for responsible and sustainable agriculture in Colombia.

Wakate and Its Impact on Community and Environment

With 1,083 hectares of its own production and more than 620,000 Hass avocado trees planted, Wakate is notable for its positive impact on both the environment and the community.

The company has created employment for 355 direct workers and expects to have over 522 employees at the peak of its operation, indirectly benefiting 600 families and creating 720 indirect jobs.

Furthermore, Wakate offers fair wages and non-salary compensations, exceeding the legal minimum wage.

Significant Environmental Contributions by Wakate

Wakate has achieved a significant milestone in its effort to combat climate change by becoming Carbon Neutral certified.

Wakate has increased its conservation areas by 24% since its arrival in the territory, totaling 1,347 hectares dedicated to this purpose.

This commitment is reinforced by the implementation of a reforestation plan that has led to the planting of 23,350 native trees, in collaboration with the community, thus strengthening local biodiversity and CO2 capture.

This reforestation effort, combined with the protection of 60 hectares of water recharge zones and the implementation of a 30-meter setback from water sources, underscores Wakate's dedication to preserving water resources and contributing to ecological balance.

"Our commitment to sustainability is both a responsibility and an opportunity to demonstrate that agricultural development can be in harmony with the planet. At Wakate, our mission is not only sustainable production but also practices that contribute to the well-being of our surroundings," - Víctor Manuel Henríquez Restrepo, spokesperson for Wakate.

Wakate: Cultivating the Shift Towards Sustainability in Colombia

Wakate demonstrates a solid commitment to sustainability in the Colombian agricultural sector.

Its business model, focused on sustainable practices such as reforestation, water conservation, and responsible management of flora and fauna, significantly contributes to improving the quality of life in local communities and to the protection and regeneration of ecosystems.

This commitment to being a "good neighbor" is reflected in its collaborative work with communities, driving a greener and more sustainable future for Colombia.

Through this approach, Wakate underscores the importance of balancing economic development with social and environmental responsibility, setting a valuable precedent for positive transformation in sustainable development and social cohesion.
